Overview

• Boston police say the disturbance began around 9:50 p.m. Wednesday as officers on a paid detail assisted venue security on Lansdowne Street.
• Edwin Rivera, 30, of Mashpee allegedly became combative, threw a beverage, swung at an officer, grabbed the officer’s jacket, and reached for the officer’s gun, dislodging the officer’s radio.
• Steven Costa, 27, of Hyannis allegedly interfered with the arrest, ignored commands, and was subdued with a Taser before being taken into custody.
• Rivera faces charges including attempting to disarm a police officer and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, while Costa and Rivera both face counts such as assault and battery on a police officer, resisting arrest, intimidation, disorderly conduct, and disturbing the peace.
• One officer was injured and taken to a hospital, and Boston EMS evaluated Rivera and Costa, who did not require hospitalization; the venue was hosting a Kevin Gates concert according to its schedule.
