Police Took Father to Hospital Weeks Before Family Found Dead in Norwich
Investigation underway into police conduct following delayed response to 999 call and previous mental health assessment.
- Bartlomiej Kuczynski, 45, was found dead with his two children and sister-in-law, all with stab wounds to their necks, in a house in Costessey, near Norwich.
- Kuczynski was taken to the emergency department at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital by police on December 14, the same day a missing person report was filed from his home.
- After a comprehensive clinical assessment, Kuczynski was assessed as having 'mental capacity' and left the hospital before being reviewed again by the team.
- A 999 call was made from the property at around 6am on the day of the deaths, but police were not dispatched until a second call was made by a member of the public at around 7am.
- The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) is investigating the handling of the case by the police, including the response to the 999 call and the missing person inquiry.
