Police Step Up Investigation at Loch Ness Campsite After Assault on Eight-Year-Old

  • On July 31 between 12.20 am and 1 am a man entered an eight-year-old boy’s tent at Loch Ness Bay campsite near Drumnadrochit and sexually assaulted him before leaving the scene.
  • Investigators have seized more than 1,500 hours of public and private CCTV footage and carried out door-to-door inquiries at nearly 100 properties surrounding the campsite.
  • A dedicated task force of specialist officers from across Scotland is leading extensive inquiries to trace the suspect.
  • Police Scotland has described the suspect as a bald white man aged 35 to 50 and approximately 5 ft 10 in tall, urging anyone with information to call 101 quoting incident number 0167 or contact Crimestoppers.
  • Specialist support officers remain engaged with the boy and his family to provide ongoing trauma assistance.
