Overview
- Staffordshire Police carried out an operation on Friday, 12 September, at the Station Walks site in Newcastle-under-Lyme.
- Officers seized several push bikes suspected to be stolen and said high-visibility patrols will continue with further action where necessary.
- The encampment has been in place since August and has prompted some residents to call for the closure of nearby Brampton Park.
- Newcastle Borough Council says it has secured a court order requiring the camp to be vacated but cannot enforce it until a court-approved bailiff is available.
- Council leader Simon Tagg said offers of support were declined and he intends to press local MPs for stronger powers to speed up enforcement.
