Boy, 2, and Woman Shot in Parked Car on South Side as Police Probe Two Recent Killings

Investigators urge tips to Area One detectives after a string of unresolved shootings.

  • Chicago police say a 2-year-old boy was shot in the foot and a 30-year-old woman was shot in the knee while sitting in a parked vehicle on the 6900 block of South Lafayette Avenue in Greater Grand Crossing around 7:36 p.m.
  • Both were taken to hospitals in good condition, and no arrests have been reported in the case.
  • In Fuller Park, a 39-year-old man was fatally shot on the 300 block of West Root Street after two unknown people approached and opened fire, according to police.
  • In Grand Boulevard, officers found a 28-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the head on the 100 block of West 44th Street, and he was later pronounced dead.
