Police Seek Person of Interest in Columbus Double Killing as Family Disputes Prior 911 Call

Detectives are soliciting tips based on alley surveillance from the 2–5 a.m. window.

Overview

  • Spencer, 37, and Monique Tepe, 39, were found fatally shot in their Weinland Park home on Dec. 30; investigators ruled out murder-suicide.
  • Police reported no obvious forced entry, no firearm recovered, and three 9 mm shell casings at the scene, with the killings believed to have occurred upstairs.
  • Surveillance released earlier this week shows a hooded figure in the alley near the home during the estimated timeframe; no suspect or motive has been announced.
  • Dispatch records show a Dec. 19 call from a nearby neighbor reporting someone “banging” on her door around 2:31 a.m.; logs say the person left minutes later.
  • A separate April 15 “domestic dispute” 911 call was traced to the couple’s address, which relatives say was not made by Monique and likely came from a party guest; the children, ages 1 and 4, are with family as autopsy results remain pending.
