Overview
- A member of the public found a man deceased in woodland off Lees Lane in Dalton at about 3:12pm on December 25.
- Police believe the body is that of 19-year-old Lancaster University student Tom Dingle, and his family has been informed.
- Specially trained officers are supporting the family as formal identification has not yet taken place.
- Lancashire Constabulary says the case will be referred to HM Coroner in due course.
- Dingle had been missing since December 13, with CCTV showing his last known movements in Appley Bridge, and police thanked the public while requesting privacy for the family.
