Police Renew Appeal for Driver Seen Before Fatal Shrewsbury Supermarket Crash

Investigators have reissued an appeal targeting the driver of a small white car or van seen turning into First Avenue seconds before the collision.

Overview

  • West Mercia Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit is seeking a key witness who may hold information or dashcam footage relevant to the case.
  • The sought vehicle travelled from the Heathgates roundabout and turned right into First Avenue moments before impact, and the driver was not involved in the collision.
  • William Terrence Jones, 83, was struck by a black Audi TT near the Morrisons on Whitchurch Road at about 12:30pm on November 22 and later died in hospital.
  • Paramedics and a Midlands Air Ambulance attended, Mr Jones was airlifted to Royal Stoke University Hospital, and Whitchurch Road was closed for several hours.
