Police Remove Impaired Drivers in Salzburg Region, Lambach and Wels

Targeted stops prompted immediate seizures of licenses or keys following refusals or high readings.

Overview

  • Police in Salzburg reported three cases over Jan. 13–14, including a 35-year-old from Tennengau who ran a red light, blew 1.64‰, tested positive for cannabis, and lacked a valid license.
  • A 45-year-old from the Vöcklabruck district showed a preliminary 1.7‰ in Eugendorf and then refused the calibrated breath test, leading to confiscation of his license.
  • In Salzburg’s Stauffeneggstraße, a 32-year-old displayed impairment signs, tested negative for alcohol, and refused both a drug test and a clinical exam, resulting in a license seizure.
  • On Jan. 15 in Lambach, a 37-year-old without a valid license refused a calibrated breath test and a medical fitness exam, showed indicators of drug impairment, and had his vehicle key taken.
  • Later in Wels, officers stopped a 43-year-old previously stripped of his license in late 2025, recorded 1.22‰ on the Alkomat, and barred him from driving by confiscating his keys.
