Police Relocate 4.5-Foot Alligator Found Feet From Stuart Restaurant’s Door

The reptile's location beside a play area prompted a call to Stuart police.

Overview

  • A bartender at Hudson's on the River in Stuart, Florida, spotted the alligator on rocks by the restaurant's tiki area around 3 p.m. Monday.
  • Assistant general manager Sarah Felten and operations manager Ben Foster said the gator first appeared docile and measured roughly four and a half feet.
  • Staff tried to scare it off due to its proximity to where children and dogs gather, then called the Stuart Police Department.
  • Officers captured the gator after it began flipping, rolling, and hissing, and they relocated it unharmed with no injuries reported.
  • Following the incident, staff said the restaurant would add a new menu item this week, indicating they would serve gator for the first time.
