Overview

• Ian Currie, 76, from Edinburgh, set off from Glenfinnan around 12:45pm on 16 September and did not reach his planned stop at Inverie Bunkhouse on 18 September.
• A CCTV image from Fort William train station shows his clothing and camping gear, including a black waterproof jacket, a rucksack and a green tent.
• Following further enquiries, police say a witness reported seeing him on the Cape Wrath Trail around 4pm on 16 September roughly 5km north of the station.
• Specialist teams from Police Scotland, Lochaber and RAF mountain rescue units and the Search and Rescue Dogs Association are searching with HM Coastguard air support.
• Police are appealing for information and ask anyone with sightings to call 101 quoting incident number 3967 of Thursday, 18 September, 2025.
