Police Release CCTV After Car With Baby Stolen From Shepparton Supermarket

The 15-month-old was found unharmed by the returning caregiver after the thief left him in a box.

  • The incident occurred just before 2pm on November 14 on Maude Street in Shepparton when a red Volkswagen was taken from a supermarket car park.
  • Police say the thief reversed away, noticed the child in the back seat, placed him in a box in the car park, then drove off.
  • The vehicle was found the next day in Mooroopna, and police are still seeking the suspected driver.
  • Investigators have released CCTV images and described a man about 165cm tall with a slim build, aged in his 20s to 30s, wearing a backwards black cap, navy headphones, a blue Golden State singlet, black shorts, light blue runners and black wristbands.
