Overview
- Staff reported the 32-year-old allegedly swallowed the Fabergé x 007 Octopussy pendant at Partridge Jewellers in central Auckland on Nov. 28, and he was arrested minutes later.
- Officers released a photo of the recovered item showing the long gold chain and an intact price tag listing about NZ$33,000.
- Court records value the pendant at NZ$33,585 and describe it as 18ct yellow gold set with white diamonds and blue sapphires, one of 50 made.
- The suspect did not enter a plea at a Nov. 29 hearing, remains detained, and is due back in Auckland District Court on Dec. 8.
- Charge sheets reported by local media link him to an earlier alleged iPad theft from the same store and minor thefts from a private address, and the jeweller intends to return the locket to Fabergé.
