Overview
- Giovanni Rivera, 31, was shot in the torso and back inside 5002 3rd Ave. just after 5 a.m. on Nov. 17.
- He was taken to NYU Langone Hospital–Brooklyn, where he was pronounced dead.
- Police described the site of the shooting as an unlicensed bar or nightclub in Sunset Park.
- Detectives have a person of interest in custody for questioning, and no charges have been filed.
- Rivera lived in Borough Park and worked in construction, as the 72nd Precinct reports one homicide year-to-date through Nov. 16, down from three at the same time in 2024.
