Police Probe Swedish Visitor’s Fatal Fourth-Floor Fall in Navi Mumbai

Investigators await a post-mortem to clarify whether intoxication contributed to a wrong-building entry that preceded the fall.

Overview

  • Allde Edward Jan, 25, a Stockholm resident visiting for a friend’s wedding, died after falling from a residential building in Sanpada, Navi Mumbai.
  • Police registered an Accidental Death Report and said a formal investigation is underway, with statements from friends and residents to be recorded.
  • CCTV reviewed by investigators shows him jumping over the building’s gate earlier and falling during that attempt, according to police.
  • Officers suspect he may have been intoxicated, lost his way to his Vashi hotel, entered the Sanpada building, took the lift to the fourth floor, and slipped while trying to climb down through a gallery.
  • He was first taken to a municipal hospital in Vashi and then shifted to Sion Hospital, where he succumbed during treatment, as authorities coordinate with the Swedish Embassy to notify family.
