Police Probe Linked Gas-Station ATM Thefts in Three Connecticut Towns

Investigators highlight a dark blue Volvo as a common thread.

Overview

  • Police say four recent gas station burglaries across Farmington, Simsbury and South Windsor may be connected.
  • In Farmington, alarms drew officers to the Mobil at 843 Farmington Ave. around 1:49 a.m., where the front door was forced off its hinges and three masked suspects fled in a dark blue Volvo SUV with the ATM, according to police.
  • In South Windsor, officers found the Exxon at 5 John Fitch Boulevard with its door ripped off and the ATM missing after a passerby called around 2 a.m.; the burglary occurred just after midnight, police said.
  • Simsbury reported similar incidents, including two gas stations hit, and a Pride station clerk told WTNH about roughly $5,000 taken from an ATM.
  • Departments are coordinating across the three towns and ask for public tips, with Farmington urging anyone with information to call (860) 675-2400.
