Police Probe Doorway Robberies Targeting Seniors in Hamburg and Wuppertal

Detectives are seeking public tips after attacks at home entrances in both cities.

  • In Hamburg-Schnelsen around 12:30 on October 15, a man followed a 93-year-old to her Oldesloer Straße apartment, forced his way in, tore off her bracelet, and fled as her wheelchair-using husband looked on; she was slightly injured.
  • The Hamburg suspect is described as about 175 cm tall, 40–50 years old, corpulent with a round face, wearing dark-blue jeans and a dark-blue blouson, and carrying a paper bag and a bouquet.
  • The Hamburg investigation is being led by the Raubdezernat der Region Eimsbüttel (LKA 134), which asks witnesses to call 040/4286-56789.
  • In Wuppertal at about 13:55 on October 15 on Kohlstraße, a man confronted a 91-year-old at his door, turned threatening after asking for money, and the victim handed over cash.
  • The Wuppertal suspect is 40–50 years old, about 1.70 m tall with short black hair and a short dark coat, and police request tips at 0202 284 0.
