Overview

• PC Dan Parsons, 32, was charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving after his unmarked police car struck a 19-year-old pedestrian at an Emersons Green roundabout in November.
• He appeared before Bristol Magistrates’ Court on July 15 and did not indicate a plea to the dangerous driving charge.
• District Judge Kirsty Allman granted him unconditional bail pending a plea and trial preparation hearing at Gloucester Crown Court on August 12.
• The charge followed a probe by the police’s Serious Collision Investigations Team and an IOPC referral for a local Professional Standards Department investigation.
• The pedestrian, Saara Akatwijuka, suffered serious injuries in the collision and has since been discharged from hospital.
