Police Mount Sweeping Raids on Valencia Port Cocaine Cartel

A secret court-supervised probe used undercover agents to penetrate port corruption.

Overview

  • National Police carried out 48 simultaneous searches in more than 20 municipalities under the direction of Valencia’s Court of Instruction No. 15.
  • More than thirty suspects have been detained so far, with investigators expecting roughly 80 to 86 arrests as the operation remains active.
  • The investigation links about 3,589 kilos of seized cocaine to the network, which allegedly used the gancho perdido method to recover drugs from containers inside the port.
  • Two alleged ringleaders who work at the port, identified as B. M. R. and I. T. R., were arrested, with detentions reported in Alboraia and Ibiza.
  • Authorities have frozen bank accounts and cryptocurrency credentials to trace proceeds, and police cite ties to shipments routed via Guayaquil and Balkan criminal groups.
