Police Launch Manhunt After Three Transgender People Shot Dead in Karachi

Rights groups say the case underscores rising anti-trans violence in Pakistan.

Overview

  • Police said each victim was shot once—two in the chest and one in the head—with two 9mm casings, a torch, tissue roll and other items recovered but no phones or identity documents.
  • Two victims were identified through fingerprint matching as Alex Riyasat, known as Aini, and Muhammad Jeel, known as Sameera, while a third was identified by the alias Asma.
