Police Investigate Co-op Ram-Raids in Kidsgrove and Chandler’s Ford

Police issue appeals after an ATM is recovered in Chandler’s Ford, with the Kidsgrove branch now reopened.

Overview

  • In Kidsgrove at about 3am on January 9, a stolen JCB telehandler was used to rip an ATM from the Co-op on Cedar Avenue, and officers seized the plant left at the scene.
  • Staffordshire Police said two suspects arrived in a white van, possibly a Ford Transit or Maxus Deliver, and a silver VW Golf, with a structural engineer called to assess damage.
  • The Kidsgrove Co-op reopened to shoppers on January 10 following damage assessments after the overnight break-in.
  • Around 5:15–5:17am on January 10 in Chandler’s Ford, a 4x4 forced entry to the Co-op on Winchester Road and an ATM stolen from inside was later recovered on Brownhill Road.
  • Hampshire Police recovered a damaged black Opel/Vauxhall that was not used in the raid and appealed for CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage as enquiries, including any potential links, continue.
