Overview
- On Monday around 10:15 p.m., a man struck a 53-year-old woman from behind in the park and on Wednesday around 9:40 a.m. he smacked the buttocks of a 33-year-old before fleeing
- Police and the Chicago Park District have installed additional surveillance cameras and boosted patrols in response to the incidents
- The suspect is described as a heavyset man between 20 and 45 years old, standing 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-11 with long black hair, a black beard and dark clothing
- Alderman Andre Vasquez’s office issued a public safety alert urging residents to call 911 if they feel unsafe and to share any tips with police
- West Ridge Nature Park, a 21-acre green space next to Rosehill Cemetery on the city’s North Side, remains open but is under heightened watch
