Police in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Bust Child-Kidnapping Rings, Rescue 8 Children

Task force teams used technical clues to uncover cross-district networks that sold abducted children to couples or for labour.

Overview

  • In Warangal, Kazipet police and the Telangana Task Force arrested two suspects accused of targeting infants and toddlers sleeping at railway stations and on footpaths.
  • Five children were rescued across several districts, including a five-month-old taken from outside Kazipet Railway Station on December 28, 2025.
  • Police said the arrested men confessed to multiple kidnappings and to selling children to childless couples by falsely claiming orphanage origins, and the purchasing couples were taken into custody.
  • In Andhra Pradesh’s Krishna district, police arrested three people and rescued three Scheduled Tribes children who were trafficked as labourers to duck rearers in Nandyal.
  • An FIR in the Krishna case cites kidnapping, wrongful confinement, trafficking and child-labour provisions, one accused remains absconding, the rescued girls’ parents are untraced, and children have been placed with protection authorities or returned to family.
