Overview

• Virginia State Police say shots were fired at a 2011 white Ford F-150 on I-295 South near Pole Green Road around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
• The pickup left the roadway, crashed and caught fire, and the driver, 27-year-old Hunter Davis of Henrico County, died at the scene.
• Investigators have not identified a shooter and are treating the case as an active criminal investigation.
• Southbound lanes were closed through the night during the response and reopened at about 4:30 a.m. Wednesday.
• Police ask anyone who witnessed the incident or has dash-cam footage to contact VSP by dialing #77 or reaching the Richmond division.
