Overview

• Officers responded around 8:45 a.m. Tuesday to 399 St. John's Place in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn.
• The victim, 49, was shot in an arm and a leg and was taken to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in stable condition.
• Witnesses told ABC7 the assailant struck her with the butt of a gun and threatened the building superintendent before firing.
• Police initially believed the suspect was barricaded in a third-floor apartment, then found it empty and released a description: about 5'10", 155 pounds, navy blue shirt and pants.
