Police Helicopter Training Flights Begin Across Germany With Up to 13 Aircraft

The multi-state flights mark the final practical phase of a 22‑month course that ends with licensing in December.

Overview

  • The 44th training cohort’s exercise runs 22–26 September on a published route, starting and ending in Sankt Augustin.
  • Planned stops include Gifhorn, Hamburg, Fuhlendorf, Barth, Neubrandenburg, Blumberg, Bautzen and Kassel-Calden before returning to base.
  • Up to 13 helicopters from the Federal Police and state units in Brandenburg, Bavaria, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, Lower Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia are slated to take part.
  • Pilots are practicing formation flying and multi-aircraft tactical coordination, with noticeable flyovers expected over several major cities.
  • Graduates are scheduled to receive licenses on 11 December 2025 before joining air squadrons that support surveillance, search operations and disaster response.
