Police Fatally Shoot Driver After High-Speed Chase from Queens to Long Island

The pursuit ended with the driver dead and eight people, including seven officers and one civilian, hospitalized with minor injuries.

The chase began around 11 p.m. Friday in Queens when the driver fled a traffic stop and nearly ran over two NYPD officers.
The driver, described as reckless, struck multiple police and civilian cars during the pursuit, which spanned about half an hour.
The chase ended in Massapequa Park, where the driver lost control of his vehicle and was subsequently shot by police after refusing to exit the car.
Five Nassau County officers, two NYPD officers, and one civilian were taken to hospitals with minor injuries.
The state attorney general’s office is investigating the incident, and video footage from various sources is being reviewed.
