Police Contain Second 'Generación Z' March in Mexico City as Parade Day Security Tightens

Heightened security for the Revolution Day parade restricted access, disrupting transit across central corridors.

Overview

  • City agencies forecast more than 30 events on Nov. 20, and the military parade began at 10:00 from the Zócalo toward the Monument to the Revolution.
  • The march left from the Ángel de la Independencia with a markedly smaller crowd than Nov. 15, with officials counting about 150 participants as some media estimated roughly 200–300.
  • Police encapsulated the contingent near the Glorieta de las Mujeres que Luchan and later at 5 de Mayo, blocking free access to the Zócalo while parade logistics were cleared.
  • Authorities reported five people presented to a civic judge after a fight and one 19‑year‑old remitted to the Public Prosecutor for possible narcotics, and officers seized batons, gas masks and chains on Madero.
  • Mobility was heavily affected with fencing, route closures across Reforma–Juárez–Centro and a suspension of Metrobús Line 7, and marchers were allowed to move only after the parade’s rear section passed.
