Police Confirm Horse Death After A19 Horsebox Overturns Near Seaham

Officers report two horses were ejected, with one struck by a vehicle at the scene.

  • The North East Ambulance Service dispatched two ambulance crews, a rapid response paramedic and a clinical team leader.
  • Two people were treated and discharged at the scene while two others refused treatment, with no serious injuries reported.
  • One southbound lane was closed for just over an hour, causing delays of up to about 45 minutes, and all lanes reopened by around 1:30pm.
