Police Confirm Bondi Egging Incident Was Random, Not Antisemitic

Two teenage boys have been charged after allegedly targeting a group of women in Sydney's eastern suburbs in what authorities now say was a random act.

  • Five women in Bondi reported being targeted by eggs thrown from a car on Saturday night, with one woman struck and a sign also hit.
  • Initial investigations considered the possibility of an antisemitic motive due to the women's clothing and Star of David necklaces, but police later ruled this out.
  • The alleged perpetrators, a 16-year-old driver and a 14-year-old passenger, were arrested on Monday and charged with various offenses, including driving a stolen car.
  • The silver Mazda involved in the incident was found crashed with the engine running, containing egg cartons and an empty jerry can, and was seized for forensic examination.
  • Police clarified that the attack was random and unrelated to other recent antisemitic incidents in Sydney, which remain under investigation by Strike Force Pearl.
