Police Conduct Raids in Search for Fugitive Ex-RAF Members

Authorities in Berlin and Frankfurt intensify efforts to locate Burkhard Garweg and Ernst-Volker Staub, former members of the disbanded Red Army Faction.

Raids were carried out in Berlin and Frankfurt targeting a contact person linked to fugitive ex-RAF member Burkhard Garweg.
The searches included a residence in Berlin-Friedrichshain and items belonging to the contact person in Frankfurt were seized.
Burkhard Garweg, 56, and Ernst-Volker Staub, 70, are accused of multiple robberies between 1999 and 2016 to fund their lives in hiding.
The two are part of the third generation of the Red Army Faction, a left-wing extremist group that disbanded in 1998 after decades of violent activity.
Daniela Klette, another former RAF member, was arrested earlier this year, and charges have since been filed against her.
