Police Complaint Filed Against Rajanna Sircilla Collector Over National Anthem Protocol Row

A local resident’s filing places the dispute before the district police.

Overview

  • Pokala Srinivas of Sircilla, joined by members of BC organisations, submitted a complaint to superintendent Mahesh B. Gite alleging misconduct by collector Sandeep Kumar Jha during Praja Palana Day.
  • The complaint claims the collector’s vehicle arrived with its siren on during the national anthem and that he walked onto the stage while the anthem was in progress.
  • Complainants sought registration of an FIR under the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971, and requested an investigation using video, audio, and eyewitness evidence.
  • The police filing follows a separate formal complaint by MLA and government whip Adi Srinivas to the Chief Minister’s Office and the Chief Secretary seeking action for protocol breaches.
  • During the event, Srinivas hoisted the flag and began the anthem in the collector’s absence, and efforts by reporters to obtain the collector’s response have gone unanswered.
