Overview
- Harrisburg police on Nov. 26 charged James T. Scott, 22, in the Dec. 20, 2023 killing of 18-year-old Amari McFadden-Sowers in the 1500 block of Ella Alley.
- An affidavit says a semi-automatic handgun with no serial number recovered during Scott’s Jan. 11, 2024 arrest matched 11 shell casings found around the victim.
- The filing states Scott was in the alley with McFadden-Sowers when he was shot, and police note he lacked a carry license and had an active warrant at the time.
- Scott is charged with criminal homicide, person not to possess firearms, and firearms not to be carried without a license.
- He remains incarcerated at SCI Camp Hill on an unrelated 1.5–3 year sentence and had not been arraigned on the homicide case, and prosecutors have not released documents explaining a possible motive.
