Police Car Strikes Two Pedestrians in Leigh, Woman Remains Seriously Injured

Investigators are gathering CCTV and dashcam evidence following confirmation the police vehicle was responding to another call.

  • Greater Manchester Police said the collision occurred at 9:08pm on Friday on Wigan Road in Leigh, involving a GMP vehicle and two pedestrians.
  • A 57-year-old woman remains in hospital with serious injuries, while a 58-year-old man has been discharged with minor injuries.
  • GMP reports the officer driving is supporting the inquiry, with a referral made to the Professional Standards Directorate in line with procedure.
