Overview
- Late Saturday into Sunday, Schalke supporters on a return train twice activated emergency brakes at Kurl and Scharnhorst, where a confrontation followed with Borussia Dortmund and a small group of 1. FC Köln fans.
- Police and federal police counted roughly 300 Schalke supporters facing about 90 attributed to BVB and five to Köln in the Scharnhorst area near tracks and adjacent sports grounds.
- Officers seized mouthguards, gloves, boxing tape and ski masks, registered identities including 94 linked to BVB and Köln, deployed a helicopter, then escorted Schalke fans back to the train.
- Criminal complaints were filed for breach of the peace, dangerous bodily harm and dangerous interference with rail traffic, and police reported no information on injuries.
- The train departed again at 23:20 under Bundespolizei escort, with reports of rerouted services and delays, and Schalke said it was informed in the morning, is cooperating with authorities and rejects violence.
