Police Arrest Two in Tirumala Liquor-Bottle Dumping Case

Police describe a staged dumping intended to tarnish temple authorities' reputation.

Overview

  • Those arrested were identified as Allapaka Koti, a YSRCP functionary, and Mohana Krishna, a photographer with a local daily.
  • Police say old empty liquor bottles were brought from Tirupati and dumped near bushes outside the Kaustubam Guest House to defame TTD and the Police Department.
  • Preliminary findings indicate no link between the recovered bottles and the Police Guest House despite viral posts on January 4 claiming otherwise.
  • Investigators reviewed CCTV, vehicle movements and FASTag data and, with Excise assistance, traced the outlets where the bottles were originally purchased; two phones, a Swift Dzire car and a laptop were seized for forensic analysis.
  • A third accused, Naveen, described by police as a YSRCP social media activist, remains absconding as special teams search for him, and the two detainees were granted bail by a local court.
