  • Security personnel discovered six gelatin sticks and 12 detonators in an unattended bag outside the Kalasipalya bus stand toilet on July 23, triggering an ATS complaint and police response.
  • During July 28–29 search operations, Karnataka Police recovered a total of 22 live REX-90 gelatin gel capsules and 30 electric detonators linked to the case.
  • The arrested quarry labourers—identified as Ganesh H., Muniraju, and Shivakumar from Kolar—said they intended to transport the explosives to Kollegal for legitimate stone quarrying and borewell work.
  • Investigators deployed five dedicated teams that used CCTV analysis, informant leads and technical evidence to trace the materials and identify additional suspects.
  • The probe has highlighted safety concerns at the densely populated transport hub and spurred demands for tighter enforcement of the Explosive Substances Act.
