• The assault on a 12-year-old occurred Monday, Sept. 22, between 10 and 11 a.m. at a residence on Crescentwood Avenue in Eastpointe, police said.
• The girl was able to leave the house and reach a family member, who alerted authorities, according to Eastpointe’s police chief.
• Officers executed a search warrant at the residence that day and recovered items that could expand the investigation and signal potential additional victims.
• The suspect was located and arrested on Sept. 23 about 30 minutes south of Buffalo with assistance from Detroit police, New York State Police, and U.S. Marshals.
• Officials have not released the suspect’s identity, he has not been arraigned, and there is no announced timeline for extradition to Michigan.
