Police Appeal After Woman, 49, Killed in A66 Middlesbrough Lorry Collision

Police now seek witnesses to aid the ongoing collision investigation.

Overview

  • The collision happened just before 4:40pm on Thursday, November 27, on the A66 eastbound near Riverside Retail Park in Middlesbrough, close to Argos and the Six Medals roundabout.
  • A large goods vehicle travelling east struck a female pedestrian, aged 49, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
  • The North East Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 4:41pm and dispatched a clinical team leader, a doctor, an emergency ambulance crew and a specialist paramedic.
  • The eastbound carriageway was closed for around seven hours, reported until about midnight, as collision investigators worked at the scene and placed evidence markers.
  • Cleveland Police are appealing for witnesses and relevant dashcam footage and ask the public to call 101 quoting reference 227480.
