Detectives seek dashcam video for the East Lancashire Road crash as court cases proceed for a separate assault, a shop stabbing, plus an officer injury.

Overview

  • The Serious Collision Investigation Unit appeals for dashcam or CCTV after a grey Audi A4 and black Ford Puma crashed at East Lancashire Road and Stonebridge Lane, leaving the Puma’s 33-year-old driver critical, a 34-year-old woman serious but stable, and a child with minor injuries.
  • Police say a 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and drink‑drug driving in connection with the crash and has been released on conditional bail pending further enquiries.
  • Following a Boxing Day stabbing inside a Liscard convenience shop, Denisventhan Jeyakumar, 35, has been charged with possessing a knife in a public place and section 18 wounding, refused bail, and appeared at Liverpool Crown Court, while three other men aged 58, 38 and 26 were bailed with conditions.
  • Alan Hughes, 57, has been charged with section 18 wounding with intent, criminal damage, and two counts relating to threatening or abusive behaviour after a woman suffered multiple head injuries at a Lower Breck Road property; he was remanded in custody and police say the victim has been discharged from hospital.
  • After a city-centre restaurant arrest in which an officer sustained serious bite injuries, Johny Opoku, 28, was charged with robbery and section 18 wounding with intent to resist arrest and remanded, while separate responses included a Bootle arrest later released under investigation, a Birkenhead mental health detention to hospital, and a Toxteth van–taxi collision causing a slight injury and temporary road closures.
