Overview

• On the afternoon of July 15, a local resident alerted Polizei Bad Tölz to a young fox trapped under a cattle grid on a field road near Obersteinbach.
• A severe thunderstorm threatened to flood the one-meter-deep pit and drown the animal.
• Officers secured large tarps from the resident to block rising rainwater and stabilize the site.
• Feuerwehr Obersteinbach then used a tractor to lift the several-hundred-kilogram metal grate and free the fox.
• The fox was released unharmed and authorities praised the swift cooperation between police, firefighters and local volunteers.
