Overview
- Polestar confirmed on Wednesday that production of the Polestar 4 SUV has started in Busan, South Korea, and that first customer deliveries are scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026.
- The SUV swaps the coupe’s rearless design for a conventional rear window, raises the roofline to add about 2.5 cm of rear headroom, and increases cargo capacity to 530 L to the parcel shelf, 655 L to the inner roof, and 1,665 L with the rear seats folded.
- Two powertrains share a 100 kWh battery: a rear-motor single-motor option of roughly 200 kW and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive option of about 400 kW, with WLTP ranges near 630 km for the rear motor and 600 km for the dual motor and DC charging capped at 200 kW due to a retained 400V electrical architecture.
- New utility and software features include vehicle-to-load output up to 3.3 kW for external devices, a Camping mode that keeps climate and infotainment active while parked, and Google Gemini voice AI with planned over-the-air software updates for other Polestar 4s.
- Polestar priced the SUV to sell in Europe and Australia — UK from £54,750 and Australia from $73,900 before on-road costs — and multiple reports say the model will not be offered in the United States as the company reassesses its U.S. presence.
