Polestar 3 Jumps to 800-Volt Tech With Faster Charging, New Batteries and Free Orin Upgrade

Existing owners will receive a complimentary computer retrofit starting early 2026.

Overview

  • The 2026 Polestar 3 moves to an 800-volt architecture enabling peak DC fast charging up to 350 kW and cutting 10–80% charge times to about 22 minutes, with up to a 6% WLTP efficiency gain.
  • New CATL battery options pair a 92 kWh pack with the Rear motor variant and a 106 kWh pack with Dual motor and Performance trims, which replace the previous naming structure.
  • A new in-house permanent magnet rear motor teams with an asynchronous front unit that can disconnect to save energy, delivering a more rear-biased setup and up to 500 kW in the Performance model.
  • The core computer upgrades from NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Xavier (30 TOPS) to Orin (254 TOPS), and Polestar will retrofit the Orin hardware to existing Polestar 3s at no cost starting in early 2026.
  • Sales of the refreshed model begin in the UK before other markets, and media reports cite WLTP range updates by trim along with a 310 kW peak for the 92 kWh pack.
