Polaris to Sell Majority of Indian Motorcycle to Carolwood, Creating Standalone Company

Industry veteran Mike Kennedy will lead the independent brand once the transaction closes.

Overview

  • Polaris signed a definitive agreement for Carolwood LP to take control, with closing targeted for the first quarter of 2026.
  • Indian Motorcycle will remain within Polaris until closing, then transition its factories in Spirit Lake, Iowa, and Monticello, Minnesota, plus its Burgdorf, Switzerland design center, along with about 900 employees.
  • Polaris will keep a small equity stake in the new company, while detailed financial terms were not disclosed.
  • Kennedy’s résumé includes leadership roles at Harley-Davidson, Vance & Hines and RumbleOn.
  • Polaris said the separation should add roughly $50 million to annualized adjusted EBITDA and about $1 to adjusted EPS, and shares jumped in after-hours trading as it guided Q3 sales to the high end of its range.
