Polaris Music Prize Unveils 2025 Long List of 40 Canadian Albums

A jury of 205 industry professionals will trim the album list to 10 finalists on July 10.

 Art d’Ecco is a Vancouver Island-based rock artist whose latest album Serene Demon is a long list nominee.
 Destroyer is the working name of Vancouver musician Dan Bejar, whose new album Dan’s Boogie is on the long list.

Overview

  • The long list released on June 10 features first-time nominees, past winners such as Caribou and Backxwash, and B.C. acts including Snotty Nose Rez Kids, Art d’Ecco and Destroyer.
  • The new SOCAN Polaris Song Prize will unveil a 20-track long list on June 24 and award $10,000 to its inaugural winner split between performers and Canadian songwriters.
  • The jury will select five song contenders on July 29 to accompany the 10 album finalists in the competition’s next phase.
  • The main prize grants $50,000 to the winning album and $3,000 to each runner-up from the Polaris jury’s selections.
  • The 2025 Polaris Music Prize winner will be announced at Massey Hall in Toronto on September 16.
