• The grand prize has been reduced from $50,000 to $30,000 owing to lower sponsor contributions
• A new Polaris Song Prize carrying a $10,000 award debuted this year with its own 20-track long list announced June 24 and a shortlist due July 29
• The 10 shortlisted albums span diverse genres from folk and electronic to punk and psychedelic rock
• Winners for both prizes will be revealed on September 16 at Massey Hall in Toronto
