Overview
- The Pokémon Company and TiMi Studio Group announced Tuesday that online play for Pokémon UNITE will stop at 00:00 UTC on March 23, 2027, and after that players will no longer be able to log in or join matches.
- Microtransactions were halted on the announcement day so Aeos Gem purchases are closed but existing gems can be spent until the shutdown and new Unite Club sign-ups and auto-renewals have been suspended.
- A final update on November 12, 2026 will launch a farewell event, add a Unite Coin exchange for past items, and introduce a Library feature that requires an in-game data download to preserve certain licenses, cosmetics and records.
- Regional qualifiers for the Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo competitive tournament will begin on December 5, 2026 and the Tokyo finals will proceed as planned, giving pro teams a final competitive run before the service ends.
- Players must download the Library data before March 23 to retain access afterward, the data is stored locally and generally cannot be moved between devices, and the shutdown reflects the broader costs and regulatory pressures on long-running live-service games.
