Support for 32-bit Android devices will end in a phased rollout, starting March 2025 for Samsung Galaxy Store users and June 2025 for Google Play Store users.
Affected devices include older models like Samsung Galaxy S4 and S5, Sony Xperia Z2 and Z3, Motorola Moto G (1st gen), and others released before 2015.
Niantic cites the need to streamline development and focus resources on newer technologies as the reason for the change.
Players using 32-bit devices must switch to a 64-bit Android or iOS device to continue accessing their accounts, items, and progress.
This move follows a similar decision for Niantic’s other game, Ingress, and reflects broader trends in phasing out outdated hardware.
