Overview
- The Pokémon Company announced the decision on August 13, 2026 and scheduled Pokémon Bank to stop service on February 25, 2027 at 7:00 p.m. PST, after which transfers from Bank to Pokémon HOME will no longer work.
- Players are being urged to transfer any creatures they want to keep from Pokémon Bank into Pokémon HOME before the shutdown because the Bank-to-HOME bridge is one-way and will be disabled at that time.
- Pokémon HOME will add support in October 2026 for the Switch ports of FireRed and LeafGreen, allow Pokémon caught with GO Safari Balls to transfer (they will appear as Strange Balls), and raise Premium Plan deposit limits from 6,000 to 9,000 Pokémon.
- Pokémon Bank was delisted when the 3DS eShop closed in 2023, so only users who previously downloaded the app can still access it to migrate Pokémon before service ends.
- The shutdown severs the main official route for moving Pokémon from many GBA/DS/3DS-era titles into the modern generation, which could leave long-held collections stranded unless games are reissued or other official transfer options appear.
