Poisonings Target Girls' Education in Afghanistan

Nearly 80 schoolgirls in Afghanistan's Sar-e-Pul province were poisoned in two separate attacks at their primary schools over the weekend.
Someone who held a personal grudge orchestrated the attacks by paying a third party to carry them out.
Since the Taliban took over in 2021, girls in Afghanistan are banned from education beyond sixth grade.
The attacks are thought to be the first of their kind since the Taliban regained control of Afghanistan.
Afghan officials are investigating the incidents in an effort to find the perpetrators.
